Dr. Miles Turnbull, Interim Dean of Education at UPEI and Carolyn Francis, Practicum Coordinator for the BEd programs at UPEI, are travelling across the province to visit schools and other educational settings where UPEI's BEd students were on practicum this year. Remaining schools will be visited in the fall. The purpose of these visits is twofold: to offer an in-person thank you to the schools and the cooperating teachers for hosting our pre-service teachers and to discuss ways to improve or enhance the practicum experience. They will also be seeking suggestions for future graduate programming and other suggestions that will help inform the Faculty of Education's strategic planning and direction. Principals will also be asked about their own professional development needs to which the Faculty might respond. Thirty six schools will be visited over five days from April 11-30, 2012.
