We have a special guest coming to campus on Thursday, June 28th to share some information, resources, and best practices for teaching online. All are welcome!
Glenn Cake teaches French with the Centre for Distance Learning and Innovation, where students in high school have the opportunity to take their high school Core French program via distance education from anywhere in the province. As such,... Glenn has extensive experience in teaching and engaging students in an online setting.
Glenn will be sharing some of his strategies for engaging students in online learning - specifically through Elluminate/Blackboard Collaborate and a learning management system, in addition to other e-learning tools. He will also be sharing some statistics and anecdotes he has collected in his time teaching online, to help paint a picture of student feedback and success.
The presentation will be in memorial Hall, 417 on Thursday June 28 from 9-12. A Q&A session with Megan MacKenzie, E-Learning Instructional Designer for the Faculty of Education.
Megan Mackenzie will also be holding e-learning demonstrations and support in 417 Memorial Hall, leading up to Thursday's presentation. These will explore Collaborate, Google Apps and Moodle and take place Monday June 25th, Tuesday June 26, and Wednesday June 27 from 12pm - 1pm.
