It seems like just yesterday the current MEd class was together on campus at UPEI for classes, but it’s already time for the next face-to-face course! Following a short on-line component offered prior to this course, Critical Pedagogy (ED 619N) will be held from October 31- November 6, 2011 in Iqaluit, NU.
The lead instructor for this course is Dr. Lynn Aylward who teaches at the School of Education, Acadia University, Nova Scotia. Dr. Aylward has extensive experience teaching for the Nunavut Teacher Educator Program (NTEP), and her current research reflects this experience. Most recently, Dr. Aylward has published on “The Role of Inuit Languages in Nunavut Schooling: Nunavut Teachers Talk about Bilingual Education”.
The co-instructors for the Critical Pedagogy course will be Monica Ittusardjuat, a UPEI MEd Nunavut graduate (2009), who currently teaches at the NTEP in Iqaluit. Also, Elizabeth Fortes will continue to offer support and facilitation as part of the instructional team.
This course, Critical Pedagogy, is the fifth course in the MEd program and marks the half-way point in the Masters program.
